Inspired by a dialogue from one of my favourite musicals 'Into the Woods', this painting depicts the eerie atmosphere that surrounds a tree-filled landscape, even if there may be signs of light (and life) nearby.

Apart from the use of black and white, I decided to make the palette trichromatic and include orange hues - this is to remind viewers that even a place that looks as deadly as the dark woods is no match to fire. After all, the trees are just wood.
