'Papillion en bleu', or 'Butterfly in blue' was one of the pieces I enjoyed making after an inspirational surge. A butterfly is known for it's incredibly accurate symmetrical figure. I wanted to play with and challenge this conventional perspective for paintings through one of my favourite techniques - geometrical shapes. Known as the 'Morpho' butterfly, the striking arrangement of natural blue shades found on it's wings swayed me to create a work depicting the creature with vivid hues of my favourite blues.
